Tour des Dents du Midi - Trip Details

Example Itinerary

Note that your mountain leader may alter this itinerary without prior warning due to changing weather or other safety considerations.

We can arrange accommodation for you on Monday night at a lovely auberge in Mex, which is accessible from the Geneva airport via the Swiss trains and a Poste Bus, or via a rental car at the airport. Alternatively, if you wish to leave from Chamonix contact us for further information. The entire group will need to use the same itinerary.

This is optionally a 5 day hike for groups wishing to travel at a more leisurely pace, who can choose to stay overnight at the Cabane d’Anthème beside a lovely lake above Champéry Switzerland.

Arrive at designated hotel and meet with trek leader for welcome and briefing. Chance to purchase last minute personal items. Overnight at hotel.

Guests should arrange their own transportation from Mex (unless prior arrangement is made with Alps Adventures). Normally to return to Geneva airport for example, one can travel via Poste Bus and trains to the Geneva airport ( 4 trips per day in high season ) or via a hire car which you have left in the Mex car park at the start of the trip.

This is a tour accessible to hikers of all levels. Done at the leisure pace (5 days) it is suitable even for small children, yet accesses some very mountainous terrain. Done at the confirmed hiker pace with an ascent of the Haute Cime and using 4 days the tour is demanding on the first two days, but becomes gradually less steep on the following days.

Ideally you should have completed several full day hikes one month to two weeks before departure date and do shorter walks or runs regularly (weekly). The more endurance you have, the more you will enjoy the trek.

Walking times during the tour are 6-8 hours per day at a casual pace, with some steep uphills and downhills and include breaks for lunch, snacks etc..

Snow, rain, wind, poor visibility etc. could be encountered at any time of the year on this tour due to changing mountain conditions.
