Residence Anna Bouclier - General Description and Location

This unique apartment is in a 200 year-old stone building in the very center of Chamonix on the main street in the pedestrian zone. A perfect base from which to plan your mountain adventures. Relaxing, cool and quiet, the apartment faces Mont Blanc and the Arve river, so is well-insulated from street noise.

Located at ground level, it has 2 bedrooms, one bath room (en suite to the large bedroom), one shower room and a separate toilet. It is decorated in a rustic, bright and cheerful style. It has local mountain character with stone walls, wood ceilings, Italian terra cotta tiles, wood burning fireplace, and a large private balcony along the river. Beautiful views of the Mont Blanc massif.

Walking distance from the Chamonix train station, local buses and several of the lifts, such as the famous Aiguille du Midi cable car with beautiful views of Mont Blanc, the Italian and Swiss Alps.

Easy access to local parking garages or on-street parking, but a car is not required. Shopping for all your needs - sports supplies, clothes, food and gifts starts just across the street from the apartment. Access to dozens of restaurants, bars and specialty shops is moments away. 

Two Bedrooms

The double bedroom sleeps two and is a good size. There is a desk built in to the window bay, and a large oak armoire with hanging space and shelves, bedside tables, a chest of drawers and drawer space built into the bed frame. This room sleeps 1-2 people.

The family bedroom is a  large room with 2 bunk beds. It features two large built-in double-door cupboards with shelves and hanging space, a built-in desk and a bedside table. There is plenty of space in this bedroom to move around. En suite to a bathroom with full sized bath tub, sink and beautiful hardwood vanity. This room sleeps 1-4 people.

Open Plan Living/Dining Room

There is an enclosed cast iron and glass fireplace (which helps heat the apartment), a  living area with  TV/VCR/DVD player, a mini stereo with CD/radio/cassette player, a sofa (with pullout double bed ), additional lounge chairs and a coffee table. The dining room table seats six. The sofa can be used to sleep 2 people if  desired as a door can completely close this room off from the rest of the apartment. 

The entry hall has a closet with ski and boot storage as well as a washer/dryer, coat rack and shelves.


This room is connected to the living room through a breakfast  bar. It has a modern galley-style pine and butcher's block counter top kitchen with a tall American style fridge/freezer, 4 burner vitro-ceramic stove top, oven, coffee machine, electric kettle, and all required cooking/serving kitchenware. Plenty of storage space in the cupboards for foodstuffs.

Linens and Cleaning

Bed linens and a set of bath towels are provided for each guest, as well as several throw rugs and a set of  kitchen towels. A vacuum cleaner, broom/mop and basic cleaning supplies are provided. We will replace light bulbs, and perform any handy-work  that might be required during your stay. Cleaning is done weekly if the apartment is rented short-term and can be arranged at an extra charge for long-term rentals.

Internet, music and TV

High-speed wireless internet (ADSL) is included in the rental. You must provide the computer with wireless capabilities or an ethernet connection. We have French internet television with various French channels including several children’s; several UK and US news channels and the BBC Prime channel in English. We provide a DVD player, a collection of DVDs and a small stereo/radio to plug your iPod into or use with your CDs.

Heating / Air Conditioning

A combination of electric radiators and the wood burning fireplace keep the apartment warm and inviting in winter or chilly nights anytime. The nearby glacial river and meter thick stone walls keep the apartment cool and comfortable on even the hottest summer days.

Private Balcony

Accessed through the living room, on the banks of the Arve river catching morning and early afternoon sun with great views of Mt Blanc. Firewood is stored here. Reasonable use (daily fires) of the wood is included in the rental. A great place for breakfast in the summer!

Apartment Access and Transportation

We are on a pedestrianized street, which is open to traffic from 6 am - 10 am.

We are 2 minutes from the nearest bus stop and 5 minutes walk from the SNCF train station. See our page Access and Transport for full details and links. Chamonix also has a free town center shuttle bus.


Parking is not included with the apartment but is close by. Please download ParkingRelais.pdf produced by the city of Chamonix for details. The covered Parking Michel (#2 on the map) is closest. Free parking on-street can also be found on Allée Rector Payot, though it goes quickly in high season.


Everything you need to accompany your holiday is found in easy walking distance from the flat.

Grocery shopping starts across the street and several others are within easy walking distance. A pharmacy is 2 doors down from the front door for toiletries and prescriptions. Several good bakeries, pastry and chocolate shops are on Rue Paccard and nearby streets. Savoyard specialty shops for meats, cheeses, wines and liquors abound. Camera stores and photo labs processing digital media are dotted all over town, including on Rue Dr Paccard near the flat.

Many ski rental, mountain bike rental and mountain equipment rental stores are located just a few doors down from our apartment on Rue Paccard (Snell Sports, Coquoz Sports, Ravanel Sports, Zero G. etc..) You can rent mountain bikes, crampons, hiking books, snow shoes, ice axes, climbing harnesses and all manner of mountain equipment if you do not own this yourself.

Other stores with clothing, shoes, books, maps, newspapers (including English, German and other languages), local goods and souvenirs are also literally at your doorstep.

The local VOX movie theater is only a few doors down and shows French and some English-language films  (marked as V.O. - en version originale) and a bowling alley is within walking distance.

For children there is a summer adventure park in summer with a luge, trampolines, high ropes activities and water rides. The Paradis des Praz offers organised arts classes, pony rides and other activities in summer.

There are several places in town that offer relaxing massages, yoga, steam rooms or saunas. Try working out in the Richard Bozon sports complex with indoor pool and water slides, or indoor rock climbing at nearby Mont Blanc Escalade of Les Houches. Have a spa day at the Thermes of St Gervais Les Bains or in Pre St Didier Italy, 20 minutes away through the Tunnel du Mont Blanc.

The nearby towns of Martigny and Geneva Switzerland, Aosta Italy or Annecy France make nice day trips by car or train and have art museums and/or historic castles or Roman ruins to visit.
