As a British and French-trained international mountain leader, Robert is able to do more than just help you find your way around the mountains, plan your hikes in regard to timing and weather constraints and keep your group safe.

He has a strong knowledge of the local history, geography, and the flora and fauna of each region he hikes in and is happy to stop along the way and tell you about any of these things.

His extensive experience on the alpine trails in several countries and in guiding groups from the very young to the very old enables him to work with you to plan the best possible outing for all members of your group.

His ability to communicate in several languages and knowledge of local customs gained from residing in many countries over the years helps to get you the best possible service and treatment when staying in mountain refuges and hotels.

In France and many other European countries the law requires that anyone leading a hiking group in the mountains for a fee must have a UIMLA or UIAGM qualification. Be certain to ask other organizations offering guided hikes if their guides are fully qualified for the countries you will be hiking in before booking your holiday.

Why use an International Mountain Leader for your hike ?

Since 2001 I’ve been based in Chamonix in the French Alps, having spent the 8 years prior to this travelling various mountain ranges around the world in both hemispheres.

I have a keen interest in the mountain environment and its protection and conservation. This is a difficult balance to achieve with the human and other natural interests to take into account.

It would be my pleasure to show you some of the unique sights around Mont Blanc or travel further afield to the Swiss Alps and Bernese Oberland. These areas have rich human history as well as the possibility to see rare and protected flora and fauna.
